Shoichi Kamiya (1948–2014) apprenticed under Living National Treasure Tatsuzo Shimaoka and went on to spend more than twenty years working in Shimaoka's workshop before establishing his own studio in Mashiko. His pottery reflects the honest beauty of everyday use, shaped by decades of dedication to traditional craftsmanship and a deep respect for the spirit of mingei.
Following his passing, many of his works remained carefully preserved by his family. We feel honored to be able to help share these pieces with a wider audience, allowing his work to continue finding a place in people's daily lives and homes.
